New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at A-State has contributed an impressive $44.6 million to the local economy

Jonesboro, Arkansas – The New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University (NYITCOM at A-State) has proven to be a major economic driver for the region, with a significant $44.6 million impact on the local economy. This impressive figure, revealed through a survey conducted by Parker Strategy Group, underscores the pivotal role that the medical school plays in the community.

According to the survey, NYITCOM at A-State not only contributes substantial financial benefits but also supports 263 jobs within the local area. These jobs span a range of positions, from faculty and staff to various support roles, all playing a part in the operation of the medical school. Beyond employment, the economic activity generated by the school also leads to the collection of $2.2 million in additional state and local taxes.

The school’s contributions go beyond just the financial realm. NYITCOM at A-State, which accredits 115 medical students per year, also plays a vital role in educating future healthcare professionals. As of the Fall of 2024, the medical school had an enrollment of 567 students, further solidifying its place as a key institution in the region’s educational landscape. By training the next generation of doctors, NYITCOM at A-State is helping to address healthcare needs, both locally and beyond, while simultaneously contributing to the growth of the regional economy.

The $44.6 million impact is a testament to the growing influence of NYITCOM at A-State and its importance to the area. As the medical school continues to grow, its contributions to the local economy and its role in educating future medical professionals will only become more significant.
