Benton County, Arkansas – Drivers traveling through Rogers should prepare for temporary overnight lane closures on Highway 71B as resurfacing work gets underway in the area.
Highway 71B, also known as West Walnut Street, between Highway 94, or 8th Street, and 45th Street will have lane closures each night beginning Tuesday, August 25. The work is expected to continue through the morning of Wednesday, September 9, weather permitting.
The closures are scheduled to take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night. Crews will gradually move through the roadway as resurfacing work progresses, beginning with the outside eastbound lane and then working toward the inside lane.
The work will continue intermittently for approximately two weeks. During that period, crews are expected to resurface all lanes in both directions along the affected section of Highway 71B.
Although drivers should expect delays and changes in traffic patterns, the roadway will remain accessible in both directions while the work is underway. Motorists will still be able to travel eastbound and westbound during the overnight closures.
Drivers approaching the work area should watch for construction cones and temporary signs. The traffic control measures will be used to identify closed lanes and guide motorists through the active construction zone.
The overnight schedule is intended to allow crews to complete the resurfacing work while limiting the impact on daytime traffic. However, motorists traveling through the area during the closure hours are encouraged to slow down, remain alert and give construction crews plenty of room to work.
