Poinsett County, Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is set to close a section of Highway 322 in Poinsett County for a bridge replacement project starting next week. The closure will take place between the Tyronza River and Hawkins Lane near Tyronza, and it is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 5, lasting until 12 p.m. Friday, May 16.
According to a statement released by ARDOT, crews will be working to replace the bridge over a drainage ditch in the affected area. The closure is expected to last for more than a week, during which time the highway will be closed around the clock to through traffic. However, local traffic will still be able to access the highway on either side of the closure.
Motorists who rely on this route will need to follow designated detours while the highway is closed. For those traveling westbound on Highway 322, the detour will direct drivers to take Highway 322 west to Highway 149, then head north toward Interstate 555. Eastbound travelers on Highway 322 will be redirected to take the highway to Interstate 555, then head northeast to Highway 149.
These detours are expected to provide alternate routes for those needing to travel through the area during the closure. ARDOT advises drivers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time to account for the detour routes.

The bridge replacement project is part of ARDOT’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure across the state. As the work progresses, officials encourage all motorists to remain alert and follow posted signs for their safety.
The department also asks for patience from the local community as they work to complete the project as quickly as possible. Once the bridge replacement is finished, the highway will reopen to all traffic.
