Police officer shoots and kills suspect during SWAT operation in Eureka Springs, Arkansas

Eureka Springs, Arkansas – A man was fatally shot by police during a SWAT operation in Carroll County on the morning of May 1, 2025, according to the Arkansas State Police (ASP). The shooting occurred at a residence along the 1300 block of Highway 187 in Eureka Springs at approximately 11:15 a.m.

Authorities say the Tri-City SWAT team, which includes officers from Berryville, Eureka Springs, and Green Forest, had arrived to serve both a search warrant and an arrest warrant for 44-year-old Jeremy Coyle. Coyle was wanted on charges related to sexual assault.

When officers arrived at the home, they reportedly attempted to make contact and urged Coyle to come outside. According to officials, he refused to leave the residence. At that point, the SWAT team made the decision to enter the home.

Inside, officers say Coyle was holding a weapon. According to a statement released by ASP, “witnesses saw he pointed the weapon at officers,” prompting one of the officers to open fire.

Emergency medical responders were called to the scene, but Coyle was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
