LITTLE ROCK – As families across the city prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, the City of Little Rock is reminding residents that all municipal offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27, in observance of the holiday. City officials are encouraging residents to plan accordingly for the brief pause in services.
In addition to office closures, the City has announced adjustments to its residential waste and recycling collection schedules. Both residential trash collection and WM recycling services will experience a one-day delay following the holiday. This means that routes normally scheduled for Thursday will instead be serviced on Friday, while Friday’s regular routes will move to Saturday. Residents are advised to place their trash and recycling bins out on the adjusted collection days to avoid missed pickups.
“City of Little Rock residential trash collection and WM recycling collection will be delayed one day starting on the holiday, meaning Thursday’s collection day will be Friday, and Friday’s regular schedule will run on Saturday,” officials said.

These temporary changes are part of the city’s annual holiday schedule adjustments, designed to ensure that essential services continue while city employees have the opportunity to spend time with their families. Public safety, emergency, and essential services will remain operational during the holiday.
The City of Little Rock also took the opportunity to extend warm wishes to the community. “The City of Little Rock wishes residents and guests a safe and happy Thanksgiving!” city representatives said.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for the holiday, taking into consideration office closures and the one-day delay in trash and recycling services. Those needing city services are advised to check online resources or contact the appropriate departments before the holiday to ensure their needs are met.
With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, Little Rock joins communities nationwide in observing the tradition of family gatherings, shared meals, and gratitude, while ensuring that city operations adapt smoothly to the temporary changes. Residents are reminded to stay safe on the roads, enjoy time with loved ones, and take advantage of the brief pause in municipal services to celebrate the season.
