Faulkner County, Arkansas – The Faulkner County Regional Solid Waste Management District will host its annual Electronic Waste Drive on Friday, October 17, and Saturday, October 18, at the Conway Expo & Event Center. The event provides residents with a safe and convenient way to dispose of outdated or unwanted electronic equipment while helping to prevent hazardous materials from entering local landfills.
This year’s e-waste drive will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the free event to recycle televisions, microwaves, mixers, phones, entertainment equipment such as DVD players and radios, office machines like fax machines and copy machines, and other electronics including cameras, recorders, and alarms.
“Electronic waste contains materials that can be harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly,” said a representative from the Faulkner County Regional Solid Waste Management District. “This drive gives residents a responsible way to recycle these items and reduce the impact on our community.”
While many items are accepted, large household appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, and dryers will not be accepted at this event. Residents are asked to remain in their vehicles during the drop-off, as event staff will unload the electronics to ensure a safe and efficient process. Businesses bringing larger quantities of e-waste are required to have their items palletized before arrival.
For residents unable to attend the October drive, electronic recycling is available year-round at the Conway Department of Sanitation, located at 4550 Highway 64 West. This option provides ongoing access for safe disposal of electronic equipment outside of the scheduled event dates.
The annual drive not only protects the environment but also promotes responsible recycling practices in the community. By properly disposing of e-waste, residents help reduce the risk of toxic substances contaminating soil and water while also supporting local efforts to manage solid waste more effectively.
