Conway, Arkansas – Students in Conway can look forward to some thrilling developments ahead!
The Honors College at the University of Central Arkansas is collaborating with the Nobel Peace Center for a first-of-its-kind event.
A class centered on negotiating peace will be undertaken by a group of students, who will examine the achievements of past Nobel Peace Prize recipients.
“We will create profiles and host a poster session that will be accessible to the public, allowing everyone to come in and explore the stories of various Peace Prize winners,” stated Cindy Lea, the Honors Professor leading the course.
Lea submitted her course syllabus to the National Collegiate Honors Council and the Nobel Peace Center to join this class. The upcoming class will focus on negotiation techniques and explore how these strategies can play a role in fostering global peace.
In the upcoming semester, a number of students are set to enroll in the course with the aim of enhancing their education on a global scale.
“This presents yet another chance for students to gain insights into the world around them, even if they haven’t had the opportunity to study abroad or missed specific chances during their time in school,” stated Patricia Smith, Dean of UCA Honors College.
Once the class concludes, several students will attend the National Collegiate Honors Council Conference to present their projects to other participating schools in the program.
Lea expressed optimism that an increasing number of students will delve into the achievements of Nobel Prize winners and subsequently disseminate that information to others.
This year, John Jumper, a native of Little Rock, achieved the prestigious honor of winning a Nobel Prize in chemistry. He was recognized for developing an AI-driven system capable of predicting protein structures.
