Little Rock, Arkansas – Arkansas is by no means the only location that experiences frigid temperatures.
Winter weather has already affected travel to and from the United States in several sections of the country. More than 500 flights have been canceled and more than 3,000 have been delayed as of Tuesday afternoon. Clinton National Airport in Little Rock is responsible for two of the cancellations and nine of those delays.
According to Shane Carter, the airport’s director of public affairs, depending on when and what shape the precipitation takes, the work may start before the snow or ice forms. According to him, the airport’s personnel have been working on their winter weather strategy since September, as they always do.
According to Carter, when they begin treating runways, six main pieces of equipment are used, first known as sweepers and then blowers.
In typical Arkansas manner, crew members claim that while they prepare for little in some years, they face a few winter weather storms in others.
Travelers can be sure they’ll be in good hands at the airport and in the air, Carter said, regardless of how much snow and ice Arkansas experiences.
Carter stated, “As soon as the snow begins to fall, we will be out on our primary runway and our taxi way as we continue to monitor the forecast and get our equipment and our supplies ready, and our people are definitely ready.” “Please know that our staff is committed and will put in a lot of effort to ensure your safety while you are at the airport.”
Carter stresses that the final decision about travel arrangements rests with your airline and whether or not they cancel flights, not the airport, thus their airport must be ready in any case.
In the event that a traveler’s aircraft is delayed or canceled and they are unable to return to the road, the airport has prepared overnight kits that include a mat and basic personal hygiene items.
