Stuttgart, Arkansas – A Saturday afternoon at a local aquatic center turned into a fast-moving emergency scene after a shooting left three juveniles injured and prompted a rapid police response, according to authorities.

Stuttgart police said officers were dispatched to the John Cain Aquatic Center at approximately 4:55 p.m. after reports of gunfire in the area. What began as a routine call quickly escalated as officers arrived and confirmed that multiple people had been struck.

Investigators later reported that three juvenile victims were located at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the injuries was especially serious, with officials confirming that one of the victims had been shot in the chest. Emergency crews responded immediately and transported all three juveniles to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims due to their ages, and their current medical conditions have not been publicly updated. Officials emphasized that the situation remains under active investigation as they work to determine what led up to the shooting inside or near the aquatic center grounds.

Police said that with assistance from the Arkansas County Sheriff’s Office, a suspect was taken into custody within minutes of the incident. The swift arrest helped secure the area and prevent further escalation, according to investigators. However, authorities have not released additional details about the suspect or possible charges at this stage.

The presence of law enforcement remained heavy around the aquatic center following the incident as officers secured the scene, gathered evidence, and spoke with potential witnesses. Families and community members nearby were left shaken by the sudden violence in what is typically considered a recreational and family-oriented space.
