Sanders officially requests President Trump to grant a major disaster declaration in response to severe damages caused by the recent catastrophe

Little Rock, Arkansas – In the wake of severe storms and destructive tornadoes that swept across Arkansas on March 14, 2025, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has formally requested a Major Disaster Declaration from President Donald J. Trump. The request aims to secure federal aid to assist affected communities as they struggle to recover from the widespread devastation.

“The destruction caused by these tornadoes is devastating. The Arkansans who lost their homes, businesses, and loved ones in this storm need help to get back on their feet and rebuild,” said Governor Sanders. “We are thankful for the leadership of President Trump and I’m submitting this Major Disaster Declaration request and hope we can get additional assistance from the federal government.”

Specifically, the governor’s request includes Individual Assistance and U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loans for the hardest-hit counties, including Greene, Hot Spring, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, Sharp, and Stone. Additionally, she is seeking Hazard Mitigation assistance on a statewide level to strengthen infrastructure and reduce future disaster risks.

The request comes as local communities work tirelessly to clear debris, restore essential services, and assist displaced residents. State and local emergency response teams have been coordinating efforts to provide immediate relief, but officials stress that federal assistance is crucial for long-term recovery.

If approved, the disaster declaration would provide financial relief and critical resources for homeowners, business owners, and municipalities struggling to rebuild. Federal aid could help cover temporary housing, home repairs, and other essential recovery efforts.
