Residents near Pine Bluff Arsenal to experience loud noises and smoke as Little Rock Air Force Base destroys obsolete production items on April 14

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The U.S. Army Pine Bluff Arsenal has announced that residents living near the Pine Bluff Arsenal may experience loud noises and smoke on Monday, April 14, 2025, as the Little Rock Air Force Base Explosive Ordinance Detachment carries out an important operation. This operation will involve the destruction of obsolete production items, a task that requires controlled detonation and disposal of materials that are no longer in use.

Local residents have been advised not to be alarmed by the sounds and smoke, as these are expected byproducts of the destruction process. The team at the Little Rock Air Force Base is handling the operation with the utmost care to ensure safety and minimize any impact on the surrounding area.

“This scheduled event is part of the ongoing effort to safely dispose of outdated materials that are no longer needed,” said a spokesperson for the Pine Bluff Arsenal. “The public may hear loud noises and see some smoke, but these are standard occurrences during the destruction process and do not pose a threat.”

The explosives used in the process are designed to safely eliminate the obsolete materials, and the area has been carefully evaluated to ensure that the detonation activities do not put anyone at risk. The Pine Bluff Arsenal, along with the Little Rock Air Force Base, is committed to conducting this operation with the highest levels of safety and professionalism.
