Ramp closure planned at I-30/Highway 70 Interchange in Saline County

Saline County, Arkansas – Construction crews will be making major updates to the I-30 corridor in Saline County, starting with an overnight ramp closure at the Interstate 30/Highway 70 interchange. From 9 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, through 5 a.m. on Monday, February 24, the ramp from Highway 70 to I-30 eastbound will be closed to allow for essential pavement work as part of the ongoing widening project.

During this time, eastbound traffic on I-30 will be reduced to a single lane as it approaches Exit 111, which is the Highway 70 west exit. Motorists looking to use the Highway 70 to I-30 east ramp will be required to follow signed detours. The suggested detour route will take drivers to the I-30 west on-ramp, followed by Exit 106, and then returning to I-30 east via an overpass. In addition to the ramp closure, I-30 eastbound will experience lane restrictions from Exit 121 (Alcoa Road) to Exit 123 (Reynolds Road) due to the installation of an overhead sign structure. Drivers can expect traffic control measures, including construction barrels, barricades, and signage, throughout the work zone. The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is urging drivers to stay alert for slower traffic speeds and to exercise caution as they navigate through the construction area.

This ramp closure is part of a larger project aimed at improving I-30’s capacity and safety. The project, known as Job CA0601, is an integral part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program. It involves widening 5.5 miles of I-30 between Exit 111 and Sevier Street in Benton, expanding the highway to three lanes in each direction. The project will also include improvements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114).
