Police launch investigation after deadly Fourth of July shooting leaves one man dead in Little Rock

Little Rock, Arkansas – A man is dead and a homicide investigation is underway after a shooting Friday night in Little Rock, according to local police.

At approximately 9:42 p.m. on July 4, officers with the Little Rock Police Department responded to a call reporting gunfire on Karen Court. When they arrived, they discovered an adult male who had been shot. Emergency medical crews from MEMS attempted life-saving treatment, but tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, and no information has been made public about possible suspects or a motive. The area was quickly secured, and crime scene tape surrounded a portion of Karen Court as investigators began gathering evidence.

“The Little Rock Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred on Friday, July 4,” officials confirmed.

Detectives with the department’s homicide unit have taken over the case and are now working to piece together what led to the fatal shooting. Authorities have not confirmed whether the incident was targeted or random, and it remains unclear whether any witnesses were present during the shooting.

This latest incident adds to a growing number of violent crimes in the area this summer. Residents nearby expressed concern about rising tensions and called for increased patrols in the neighborhood.

“When authorities arrived to the scene, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound. After MEMS attempted to provide life-saving treatment, the man died at the scene.”

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and contact the department’s tip line. As of Saturday morning, no arrests had been announced.

The investigation remains active, and more details are expected to be released in the coming days. In the meantime, officers continue to canvass the neighborhood for surveillance footage and speak with potential witnesses who might have seen or heard something before or after the gunfire.
