Pine Bluff appoints Captain Shawn Davis as new police chief to lead the department into the future

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The City of Pine Bluff has announced the appointment of a new police chief after an extensive search to fill the role. On Tuesday evening, officials confirmed that Captain Shawn Davis will assume the position, with his appointment effective January 1, 2026. Davis, a longtime member of the Pine Bluff Police Department, brings over two decades of experience and a reputation for leadership and dedication.

Mayor Vivian Flowers praised the selection of Davis, highlighting his extensive service and commitment to the community. “Captain Davis has served the City of Pine Bluff with dedication and distinction for over 20 years. We are confident that his experience, leadership, and progressive vision will guide our police department into the future, building on past accomplishments, strengthening community trust, and ensuring accountability,” she said. The mayor emphasized that Davis’s leadership is expected to reinforce the department’s relationship with the public while advancing modern policing practices.

Captain Davis has served the Pine Bluff Police Department for more than 20 years, steadily rising through the ranks. During his tenure, he has focused on conflict resolution, proactive policing, and integrating modern law enforcement strategies to improve both efficiency and public safety.
