North Little Rock, Arkansas – Pet owners in North Little Rock will soon have the chance to get their dogs spayed or neutered for free, thanks to an upcoming community event aimed at helping reduce the number of unwanted animals in the area.
City officials have announced that the free spay and neuter clinic will take place on Thursday, May 30, at the North Little Rock Animal Shelter, located at 1 Championship Drive. The event will begin early, with pet drop-off starting at 8 a.m. sharp.

The clinic is open to dogs only, and space is limited. The first-come, first-served format means pet owners are encouraged to act quickly to secure a spot. Interested residents must email [email protected] to make a reservation or ask questions. In the message, pet owners should include their name, phone number, address, and detailed information about their dog, including name, age, breed, weight, and whether the dog has received a rabies vaccination.
To participate, dogs must meet several important requirements. They must be 7 years old or younger, weigh no more than 70 pounds, and not display aggressive behavior. Additionally, owners must provide a valid rabies certificate at the time of drop-off. Dogs without proof of vaccination will not be admitted for surgery.

City officials are also asking residents to avoid calling the animal shelter directly with questions about the event. All communication should go through the provided email address to help streamline scheduling and avoid overwhelming shelter staff.
This initiative reflects the city’s ongoing effort to promote responsible pet ownership and manage the local pet population humanely. Free spay and neuter events like this one can play a major role in reducing the number of stray or abandoned animals in shelters across the region.
Pet owners interested in participating are urged to act quickly, as space will likely fill up fast.
