Little Rock, Arkansas – The City of Little Rock announced that all municipal offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 27, due to ongoing winter weather conditions, while the regularly scheduled agenda-setting session of the Little Rock Board of Directors will proceed virtually. Residents are encouraged to participate and view the meeting via the City’s Facebook and YouTube channels, or on LRTV, Channel 11 for Comcast and U-Verse subscribers.

“With the City’s inclement weather policy in place, offices are closed except for essential and emergency services,” city officials stated, emphasizing the priority of public safety amid the hazardous conditions. Essential personnel will continue to provide necessary services, but residents are reminded to stay home unless travel is absolutely necessary.

Public Works crews have been working around the clock to treat and clear roads across Little Rock. Crews are focused on the City’s nine designated snow routes, ensuring that main thoroughfares and critical access roads are maintained as safely as possible. Despite these efforts, some streets remain dangerous, and officials urge drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution and avoid travel whenever possible.

Residents should also take note that residential trash and WR recycling services scheduled for Tuesday have been canceled due to the weather. The City advises that any missed collections can be placed curbside on the next scheduled collection day. Additional recyclable materials should be contained in cardboard boxes and set next to recycling carts for proper collection.

The Board of Directors’ virtual meeting at 4 p.m. will cover the usual agenda-setting items, ensuring that city governance continues uninterrupted despite the winter storm. City officials stress that providing online access to the meeting allows residents to stay informed and engaged with city operations safely from home.

The City of Little Rock continues to monitor the evolving weather conditions and will provide updates as necessary. Officials remind residents to stay tuned to official communication channels for the latest information on road conditions, closures, and service updates. By limiting travel and following guidance from city crews, residents can help maintain public safety and allow essential services to operate effectively.

The closure underscores the City’s commitment to safeguarding the community during extreme weather events while ensuring that government functions and public services adapt to the circumstances. Residents are encouraged to take precautions, avoid unnecessary travel, and remain aware of updates regarding city operations and public meetings.
