Interstate 55 Mississippi River Bridge in Crittenden County will experience scheduled lane closures for routine maintenance this week

Crittenden County, Arkansas – Motorists traveling across the Interstate 55 Bridge over the Mississippi River in West Memphis should plan for some delays next week due to scheduled lane closures. The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has announced that there will be temporary lane closures on both the southbound and northbound lanes for routine bridge maintenance.

The closures will begin with the southbound lanes of the bridge, which will be restricted to a single outside lane. These lane closures are scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting on Tuesday, April 29, and continuing through Thursday, May 1. Following that, the northbound lanes will also be affected by closures, starting on Thursday, May 1, through Wednesday, May 7. Northbound traffic will face outside lane restrictions from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day during this period.

The maintenance work is essential for ensuring the continued safety and integrity of the bridge, which is a vital transportation link between Arkansas and Tennessee. ARDOT advises drivers to exercise caution when approaching the work zone and be prepared for slower traffic. Digital message boards, cones, and other signage will be set up to alert drivers of the lane closures and guide them through the area safely.

Motorists are encouraged to stay informed about any changes or updates to the traffic situation by visiting the official ARDOT website at ARDOT.gov or checking IDriveArkansas.com. These resources will provide real-time information on road conditions, traffic closures, and alternate routes.

For those planning to travel on the Interstate 55 Bridge in Crittenden County, please be mindful of the scheduled closures and stay informed on the latest updates from ARDOT.
