Little Rock, Arkansas – The Van, a charity based in Little Rock, has been providing support to the homeless community since 2010.
Recently, founder Aaron Reddin announced plans to elevate his mission by acquiring a building intended to serve as an overnight shelter for the homeless community.
However, all of a sudden, everything fell apart. “The price was favorable and all conditions seemed ideal; it appeared to be a flawless arrangement, but at the final moment our bank regrettably withdrew,” Reddin stated.
In a moment of vulnerability, Reddin reached out on Facebook, seeking assistance from the community for funding, something he admitted he seldom does.
“I went to bed feeling a bit down but also excited because the response to my Facebook post about giving was gaining momentum,” Reddin shared.
Kim Kitchens, like numerous others, was inspired by that post and decided to contribute.
Kitchens expressed, “It was overwhelming for me to learn that the bank rejected them and that they found themselves at a loss.” “His choice of words was telling.”
Upon waking, Reddin felt as though a Christmas dream had materialized before him.
Contributions from various parts of the country reached almost $50,000, in addition to the $20,000 that had already been allocated.
Due to the funds acquired, Reddin has sought an extension to purchase the building until Monday.
