Highway 148 near Blytheville set for full closure as bridge replacement work begins Monday June 23

Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has announced that the Highway 148 bridge, located between North County Road 447 and North County Road 471 near Blytheville, will be closed for bridge replacement starting Monday, June 23. The closure is expected to last around the clock until 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, weather permitting.

This temporary closure will allow construction crews to replace the existing bridge, a vital infrastructure project aimed at improving safety and travel along the route. While the bridge itself will be closed, local traffic will still be able to access the area on either side of the closure. A signed detour route will be set up for drivers to follow during this period.

For westbound traffic, drivers will be directed to detour using Highway 148 east to Interstate 55 south, then take Highway 158 west to Highway 181 north. Eastbound motorists will follow the reverse detour, traveling on Highway 148 west to Highway 181 south, then Highway 158 east to Interstate 55 north.

Motorists are urged to be cautious and aware of the roadwork, as digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and other signage will be put in place to help direct traffic and keep everyone informed about the ongoing project.

For further travel information or updates on road conditions, the public can visit ARDOT’s official websites at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. Road users are encouraged to plan their trips accordingly and to follow the designated detour routes to avoid delays.

This bridge replacement project is a significant part of maintaining and improving the infrastructure in the Blytheville area, ensuring safer and more reliable transportation for everyone who travels the region.
