Former Pulaski County deputy is arrested along with two others after investigation into contraband at local jail

Pulaski County, Arkansas – A former Pulaski County deputy and two other individuals were arrested following a thorough investigation into contraband at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility. The probe, conducted by the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigations Division, targeted the introduction of prohibited items into the local jail, officials said.

Jeffery Miller, who was serving as a deputy with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office at the time of his arrest, was taken into custody and charged with furnishing prohibited articles into a jail facility. “Officials with the sheriff’s office said that its Criminal Investigations Division finished an investigation into the introduction of prohibited items into the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility,” the release stated.

Authorities also arrested Lance Noid, an inmate currently housed at the detention center, along with Ameshia Burt. Both are facing charges for their alleged involvement in bringing prohibited items into the facility. While details about the specific contraband were not released, officials emphasized the seriousness of the offenses and the potential risks to jail safety.

The sheriff’s office reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining the security and integrity of the detention facility. “Authorities said that the sheriff’s office remains committed to upholding the integrity and safety of the detention facility and ensuring accountability for anyone involved in compromising its security,” the statement read.

Investigators noted that the arrests were part of a broader effort to deter similar activities and hold individuals accountable when facility rules and laws are violated. The case highlights the ongoing challenges faced by detention centers in preventing contraband from entering secure environments, where safety is a top priority for staff and inmates alike.

Miller’s arrest comes as a reminder that even law enforcement personnel are subject to scrutiny and legal consequences when involved in misconduct. The sheriff’s office encouraged anyone with additional information related to the investigation to come forward to support the continued enforcement of facility rules and laws.

As the legal process unfolds, officials have pledged transparency while maintaining the safety and security of the detention facility, ensuring that both staff and inmates are protected from potential threats posed by contraband.
