Jefferson County, Arkansas – In response to escalating wildfire threats due to dry weather conditions, Jefferson County has issued an immediate burn ban, impacting all areas within the county, including Pine Bluff, White Hall, Humphrey, Sherrill, Altheimer, Wabbaseka, and Redfield. The burn ban, effective starting March 19, 2025, comes as part of an effort to reduce the risk of wildfires spreading in the region.
The Jefferson County Emergency Ordinance 2000-66 grants the county judge the authority to declare a burn ban when certain conditions create an elevated risk for fires. With the recent weather conditions, including dry and windy conditions, the danger of wildfires has significantly increased, prompting the county to take swift action to protect public safety and property.
Under this burn ban, all open burning is prohibited throughout the unincorporated areas of Jefferson County. The ban includes the burning of yard waste, debris, and other materials that could easily spark a wildfire. Local authorities are urging residents to be vigilant and avoid any activities that could contribute to fire hazards during this critical period.
This burn ban is in effect immediately and will remain until further notice, as outlined in Jefferson County Court Order No. 2025-14. Violations of the burn ban could result in penalties, and residents are encouraged to report any suspicious or illegal burning activities to local authorities.
Jefferson County officials are closely monitoring weather conditions and wildfire risks and will continue to update the public as necessary. Residents are advised to stay informed and follow all safety guidelines issued by local emergency management teams.
As wildfire risks remain high, the county urges everyone to exercise caution and cooperate with the burn ban to prevent further strain on firefighting resources and ensure the safety of the community.
