Conway introduces stricter water use restrictions as Emergency Water Curtailment Plan moves into Phase 3 amid dry conditions
Conway, Arkansas – Conway residents are facing tighter water-use restrictions as Conway Corp moves its Emergency Water Curtailment Plan into Phase 3, with the city’s main water source still below normal levels after a period of dry weather.

The new rules take effect today and place limits on when customers can water their lawns. Conway Corp is asking residents to reduce outdoor water use and be especially careful with every gallon during the ongoing dry conditions.

Under Phase 3, lawn watering is limited to one day each week, depending on the number of the customer’s street address. Homes with even-numbered addresses may water only on Saturdays, while homes with odd-numbered addresses may water only on Sundays.

The utility is also encouraging residents to use as little irrigation water as possible, even when watering is allowed. The goal is to reduce demand on the system while water levels at Brewer Lake remain lower than usual.

Swimming pool use is also covered by the new restrictions. Residents with an existing swimming pool may add water when necessary to maintain the current water level. However, filling an empty swimming pool is not permitted during Phase 3.

The restrictions come as Conway’s primary water source, Brewer Lake, continues to be affected by recent dry conditions. With the lake remaining below normal levels, Conway Corp is increasing conservation measures to help protect the available supply.

“We are grateful to our customers for the conservation efforts they have already made,” Conway Corp CEO Bret Carroll said. “Moving to Phase 3 means we need our community to reduce water use even further. Every gallon saved helps protect our water supply, and we are asking everyone to continue working together and be intentional about how they use water.”

The move to Phase 3 means residents will need to pay closer attention to their watering schedule. Instead of having several opportunities during the week to irrigate lawns, customers now have a single designated day based on their address.

Conway Corp says the restrictions are part of its effort to manage the city’s water supply while conditions remain dry. The utility will continue watching Brewer Lake levels and could adjust its response as conditions change.

For now, officials are asking customers to make conservation a priority. Residents are encouraged to use water only when it is absolutely essential and to avoid unnecessary outdoor use whenever possible.

The restrictions are intended to help slow water consumption and preserve the city’s supply during the current dry period. Conway Corp says cooperation from residents will remain an important part of protecting the community’s water resources as officials continue to monitor Brewer Lake.
