Conway Transportation Department schedules public involvement meeting for College Avenue bridge and pedestrian underpass project on January 22

Conway, Arkansas – The City of Conway is inviting residents to attend a public involvement meeting to discuss plans for the new College Avenue bridge and pedestrian underpass at Tucker Creek. The Conway Transportation Department will host the in-person meeting on Thursday, January 22, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at their office located at 800 S Harkrider Street, Conway, AR 72032.

The meeting will follow an open house format, allowing community members to drop in at any time during the scheduled hours. There will be no formal presentations, giving residents the chance to explore informational displays, ask questions directly to city staff, and provide feedback on the project. This approach is designed to encourage dialogue and gather input from the people who will be most affected by the bridge and pedestrian improvements.

Officials say the new College Avenue bridge and pedestrian underpass project is an important infrastructure initiative that will improve safety and accessibility for both drivers and pedestrians crossing Tucker Creek. By involving the public early in the planning process, the city hopes to ensure that residents’ concerns, suggestions, and ideas are considered before construction begins.

“This public involvement meeting is an opportunity for residents to learn about the project, ask questions, and share feedback that will help shape the final design,” city officials said. The city emphasizes that community participation is a key part of the planning process and encourages everyone with an interest in local transportation and safety improvements to attend.

Residents attending the meeting will be able to view project layouts, learn about construction timelines, and speak with engineers and planners. Staff will also be available to discuss traffic management plans, pedestrian access, and any potential impacts to nearby neighborhoods during construction.

The Conway Transportation Department hopes the meeting will foster a productive conversation between city officials and the community. Public input gathered during the session will help guide the project and ensure it meets the needs of both drivers and pedestrians while improving overall safety in the area.

Community members are encouraged to attend the open house, ask questions, and share their perspectives to help shape the future of the College Avenue bridge and pedestrian underpass at Tucker Creek.
