Clarendon High School football coach faces arrest and serious charges in sexual assault case involving a minor

Clarendon, Arkansas – Clarendon community was rocked recently as news emerged about the arrest of Caleb Hunter Gannon, the newly appointed head football coach at Clarendon High School. Authorities confirmed that Gannon, 27, was taken into custody on July 30 following a traffic stop in West Memphis. The arrest was carried out jointly by the Arkansas State Police (ASP) and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Arkansas State Police’s Criminal Investigation Division, serious allegations have been made against Gannon involving the sexual assault of a minor. This shocking revelation has raised many concerns within the community, especially given Gannon was about to start his first season leading the high school football team.

During his first court appearance, Gannon faced charges of Felony Rape and Engaging Children in Sexually Explicit Conduct for Use in a Visual or Print Medium. The gravity of these accusations was reflected in the court’s decision to set Gannon’s bond at a staggering $3 million, highlighting the severity of the case. Currently, Gannon remains in custody at the Prairie County Detention Center.

The Clarendon High School community is still processing the news as officials continue to investigate the case. Many are left wondering about the impact this will have on the school’s football program and the students who looked up to Gannon as a coach and mentor. The situation underscores the importance of safeguarding minors and holding those in positions of trust accountable for their actions.
