Little Rock Zoo welcomes adorable newborn colobus monkey to its family this summer

Little Rock, Arkansas – The Little Rock Zoo has a new little visitor to brighten up its animal family. On Tuesday, July 29, the zoo welcomed the arrival of a baby colobus monkey, born to parents Thumbelina and Azizi. This exciting addition has brought smiles to staff and visitors alike, eager to watch the newest member grow and thrive.

Colobus monkeys are native to various regions in Africa and are especially recognized for their striking black and white fur and long, graceful tails. Interestingly, newborn colobus monkeys have completely white fur, making them quite distinctive from their parents at first glance. This unique coloring gradually changes as the baby grows older.

While the zoo has not yet announced the baby’s gender, staff members report that the little one is healthy, developing well, and growing stronger by the day. It stays close to its mother, Thumbelina, who provides nurturing care and protection during these early stages. Zoo officials expect it won’t be long before the baby starts to explore more actively, playing with its older siblings and becoming a lively part of the colobus family.

Visitors to the zoo can look forward to seeing this charming new addition during their visits. The Little Rock Zoo continues to focus on conservation and education, offering guests a chance to learn about animals like the colobus monkey and the environments they come from.

“This new arrival is a wonderful sign of hope and growth,” zoo spokesperson shared. “It’s always thrilling to see a baby born and begin its journey, and we can’t wait to watch this little one thrive here at the zoo.”

As the baby colobus monkey takes its first steps in the world, the Little Rock Zoo community is filled with joy and anticipation. With its striking white fur and playful spirit, this new member promises to become a beloved part of the zoo’s vibrant family.
