Wrightsville, Arkansas – Residents in a section of Wrightsville are being urged to take extra precautions with their water following a break in a large water main early Saturday morning. Central Arkansas Water (CAW) placed roughly 240 customers under a precautionary boil water notice as a result of the incident.
The advisory was issued after a 16-inch water main ruptured around 6 a.m., prompting an immediate response from CAW crews. Workers were able to isolate the break by approximately 10:45 a.m. and remained on-site throughout the day in hopes of completing repairs by 5 p.m.
While service has been stabilized, the boil notice remains in effect until further notice as a safety measure.
The advisory affects households and businesses along 145th Street from Interstate 530 east to Union Street, including all the cross streets in that area. Specific neighborhoods and roads impacted include:
• Adobe Court
• Carlose Court
• Domicilio Cove
• Grande Court
• Thornoak Drive
• Irongate Drive
• Greathall Court
• Marshfield Court
• Lydia Lane
• Kady Lane
• Castle Grande Drive
• Rockbridge Road
• Panatela Parkway
• Dineen Drive
CAW is urging all affected customers to take standard safety steps when using tap water. “Bring water from the tap to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, food preparation, or dishwashing,” the utility advised. Residents are also asked to discard any ice made with tap water during this period, especially from automatic ice makers.
Though there is no confirmation of contamination, these actions are recommended purely as a precaution, CAW emphasized. Boil water advisories like this are common after significant pipe damage, as they help prevent possible exposure to harmful bacteria that could enter the water system during repair work.
The utility is currently testing the water quality in the affected zone. The boil water notice will remain in place until those tests confirm that the water is safe to drink.
CAW officials said they are doing everything possible to minimize the disruption and will notify customers when the advisory is lifted. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to stay informed through local news updates and CAW’s website or customer service channels.
The situation serves as a reminder of the importance of aging infrastructure maintenance and rapid response capabilities. Despite the inconvenience, many residents expressed appreciation for the quick communication and transparency.
More information is expected as testing results come in.
