North Little Rock, Arkansas – The Arkansas National Guard is preparing for a series of flyovers across the state later this month, marking a patriotic tribute tied to America’s upcoming 250th birthday celebration. From June 29 through July 2, residents in multiple cities will see military aircraft in the skies as part of a coordinated demonstration of aviation capability and national pride.

Officials said the scheduled flyovers will feature C-130 Hercules aircraft from the Arkansas National Guard’s 189th Airlift Wing, along with UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the 77th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade. The flights are designed not only as a visual tribute but also as a showcase of the training, readiness, and coordination of Arkansas military aviation units.

The operation is expected to cover several communities across the state, with a full list of participating cities made available through the Arkansas National Guard’s official Facebook page. While exact flight times have been organized for each location, officials emphasized that all flights remain weather dependent and could shift if conditions change.

Local organizers have also worked to align community events with the flyovers, giving residents an opportunity to gather and experience the moment together. The effort, according to officials, is intended to create a shared statewide celebration that connects communities through a visible display in the sky.

Arkansas National Guard Public Affairs Officer Col. Joel Lynch said the flyovers are meant to reflect both tradition and unity at a time of national significance.

“By celebrating our country’s 250th birthday, Americans are uniting across the country in a shared commitment to faith, freedom, and national pride,” Lynch said. “When we combine patriotism with purpose, we continue to make history.”

The statement reflects the broader purpose behind the event, which goes beyond military demonstration and into public commemoration. Officials described the flyovers as a way to bring attention to the long history of service within the National Guard while also highlighting the importance of shared national milestones.

The C-130 Hercules aircraft scheduled for the event are widely used for tactical airlift missions, known for their ability to operate in a variety of conditions and environments. Meanwhile, the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters are commonly used for transport, medical evacuation, and support missions, making them a familiar sight in both domestic and overseas operations.

Together, the two aircraft types will form the centerpiece of the flyover program, offering residents a rare opportunity to see military aviation up close as it passes over their communities.

The Arkansas National Guard has encouraged residents to follow official updates for city-specific details and scheduling changes. Officials noted that the coordination of multiple aircraft, cities, and events requires flexibility, especially given the potential for weather disruptions during the summer period.

As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, Arkansas joins other states in marking the milestone with public events that highlight history, service, and civic pride. For many residents, the flyovers will serve as both a celebration and a reminder of the role military service plays in supporting communities across the country.

While the flights will last only a few days, officials say the impact is meant to resonate beyond the event itself, reinforcing a sense of unity and shared identity among Arkansans as they look toward a major national milestone.
