Arkansas law enforcement officials launch manhunt for escaped inmate Wayne Schutz last seen at the Port of Little Rock

Benton, Arkansas – Law enforcement officials in Arkansas are actively searching for a 25-year-old inmate who escaped from a work release assignment in Little Rock on Tuesday, November 18. The inmate, identified as Wayne Schutz, #180381, was assigned to work at Prospect Steel at the Port of Little Rock when he went missing, according to authorities.

Officials say Schutz may have fled in a 2015 White Dodge pickup with the license plate number 1DYXN, and law enforcement is urging the public to remain alert. “Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact police immediately,” authorities stated.

Schutz is currently housed at the Benton Work Release Unit, where he is serving an eight-year sentence for breaking and entering in Faulkner County. His escape has prompted a coordinated response by multiple agencies, including local police and corrections personnel, to ensure he is apprehended as quickly as possible.

Officials are treating the situation seriously, noting that escapees from work release programs can pose a risk to public safety. Patrols have been increased around the Port of Little Rock and surrounding areas, and law enforcement is monitoring highways and major routes in case Schutz attempts to leave the region.

Residents are advised not to approach the inmate if spotted, but instead to contact authorities immediately with any information that could assist in his capture. Police have asked that anyone who may have seen a vehicle matching the description of Schutz’s Dodge pickup report it to law enforcement without delay.

Wayne Schutz’s disappearance has sparked concern within the community, and law enforcement is asking for public vigilance as they work to locate him. His escape underscores the importance of safety measures and oversight in work release programs and highlights the challenges correctional officials face in balancing rehabilitation with public security.

Authorities continue to follow all leads and are coordinating with state and local agencies to ensure that Schutz is found and returned to custody.
