Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders signs order extending tax deadlines and providing financial relief to storm victims

Jonesboro, Arkansas – Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has taken decisive action to provide much-needed relief for residents impacted by the severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that struck the state on April 2. In response to the devastating weather events, Governor Sanders signed Executive Order 25-08, extending critical deadlines and offering financial relief to those affected.

The executive order provides an extended deadline for individuals and businesses to file and pay state taxes, pushing the original deadline of April 2, 2025, to July 31, 2025. This extension applies to a range of tax returns, including state income tax and pass-through entity tax. The order aims to ease the financial burden on Arkansans who have faced severe disruptions due to the storms and flooding.

In addition to the tax extensions, the executive order also addresses other immediate concerns for victims. Payment fees for duplicate driver’s licenses or identification cards are now waived, and vehicle registration deadlines in the affected counties are extended to July 31. These measures are designed to reduce the stress of administrative tasks for those already dealing with the aftermath of the devastating weather.

Governor Sanders had previously declared a state of emergency on March 15, which allowed the state to mobilize resources more efficiently in response to the natural disasters. With the signing of this executive order, the state government is taking further steps to assist individuals and businesses in recovering from the destruction caused by the storms.

In a statement, Sanders emphasized the importance of supporting Arkansans during this difficult time, saying, “This executive order is part of our ongoing efforts to assist those who have been impacted by the severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that devastated parts of our state. We are committed to providing relief and helping our communities rebuild.”

The executive order is a critical step in the recovery process, as it offers both immediate and long-term relief to those affected by the disaster. Arkansans are encouraged to take advantage of the extended deadlines and waived fees as they begin the challenging task of rebuilding their lives and communities.
