Arkansas Department of Transportation inspectors check the cracked section beneath the Highway 165 bridge close to Stuttgart for potential issues

Stuttgart, Arkansas – Crews from the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) are currently conducting inspections of the Highway 165 bridge near Stuttgart after discovering damage on Wednesday. A post from ARDOT shared images of a large, cracked section of concrete located underneath the bridge, prompting the department to assess the situation thoroughly.

Despite the visible damage, ARDOT officials have reassured the public that the damage appears to be purely cosmetic. “The damage is believed to be cosmetic only,” said an ARDOT representative, emphasizing that the structural integrity of the bridge has not been compromised. “The bridge remains safe for use,” they added.

At this time, there are no plans to close the bridge for repairs. ARDOT officials continue to monitor the situation closely and will take any necessary steps if further issues are identified during their inspection. In the meantime, travelers are advised that the bridge is fully operational.

For those looking for real-time updates on the situation, including potential closures or further inspections, ARDOT recommends checking their website, iDriveArkansas.com, which offers up-to-date information on road conditions and closures across the state.
