A murder on Christmas Eve puts a shadow over the North Little Rock holiday

North Little Rock, Arkansas – Due to a fatal shooting that occurred in North Little Rock on Christmas Eve morning, gifts will remain unopened and there won’t be any seats at the Christmas table on Wednesday.

According to the police, they arrived in the 1300 block of Maple Street at 6:20 a.m. and declared a man who had been shot at least once dead.

The feelings that people like Abdulsalaam “Chi” Muhammad Sr. had about a guy who had been shot and murdered hours earlier could not be erased by the rain.

“I’m depressed. Even though I don’t know them, I feel a strong connection to them. It is simply the reality of what people have endured, and it is quite terrible,” he stated.

The victim and suspect have not been identified by the North Little Rock Police Department (NLRPD), as the latter said it is still in the process of notifying the next of kin.

According to Muhammad Sr., there are regrettably those persons who intend to harm others regardless of the festival.

Muhammad stated that people engage in fights, conflicts, and disagreements throughout the year without taking into account what is right or wrong. “Just thinking about what you did to me and nothing else.”

Families were visiting parents for the holidays and taking gifts inside off-camera, only a few steps from the scene of a man’s death. According to NLRPD, this most recent homicide occurred on the 18th day of the year in the city. They reported 22 killings in 2023. They reported 20 in 2022.

According to the Little Rock Police Department, there have been 37 killings across the Arkansas River so far in 2024, a 41% drop from the 63 recorded at this point in 2023. Whether or whether it is the most beautiful time of year, many who live close to the most recent crime scene feel that one is too many.

“Avoid allowing human emotions to influence your decision-making. Muhammad suggested, “Always make sure that you think things out first.” “You’ll have better results with people and yourself as a result.”

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to contact the NLRPD’s tip line at 501-680-8439. Information providers can stay anonymous.
