Conway, Arkansas – The City of Conway is inviting residents to share their ideas and ask questions about possible outdoor recreation projects as officials consider applying for an Outdoor Recreation Matching Grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism.
An informal public involvement meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Conway City Hall, 1111 Main Street. The meeting will take place in the City Council Chambers and is intended to give residents an opportunity to learn about the potential projects before the city moves forward with its grant application.
The city is considering projects that would improve connections between existing bike trails and add new amenities for cyclists and outdoor recreation users. Possible additions include pump tracks, flow trails and skills areas.
Officials will not give a formal presentation during the meeting. Instead, residents can stop by at any time during the two-hour window, review information about the potential projects and speak with city representatives.
The informal format is designed to encourage public feedback before an application is submitted. Residents will be able to ask questions, discuss the proposed improvements and offer suggestions that could help shape the city’s plans.
The potential funding would come through the Outdoor Recreation Matching Grant, a program administered by the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism. The program operates as a reimbursable grant. Eligible projects can receive reimbursement for up to 50% of qualifying costs after development takes place.
