Conway, Arkansas – Two members of the Conway Public School District Board announced their resignation on Monday, marking a notable leadership change for the district’s governing body.
Board President Sheila Franklin and Zone 4 Representative Trip Leach both submitted formal letters confirming their departure, ending their current terms early. The announcements were made public in Conway, Arkansas, and quickly drew attention within the school community.

“To my husband, family, friends, and supporters, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering encouragement and support throughout my service,” Franklin continued. “Above all, I give thanks to my Lord and Savior for sustaining, guiding, and strengthening me during my three-year tenure as a board member.”
Her departure closes a three-year period of service on the school board, during which she played a role in district-level decisions affecting students, staff, and school operations across Conway.
Shortly after Franklin’s announcement, Trip Leach also confirmed his resignation from the Zone 4 seat. In his letter, Leach explained that his decision was driven by personal priorities, including family responsibilities and health concerns.
“At this time, I believe this important role deserves someone who can give it their full attention and energy,” Leach said. “Due to the need to focus more fully on my family and personal health, I have made the difficult decision to step away from my position on the Board.”
Leach’s statement emphasized the demanding nature of school board service and the importance of ensuring that leadership positions are held by individuals able to dedicate sufficient time and focus.
