Little Rock Zoo brings families together to celebrate the holidays with annual GloWild event

Little Rock, Arkansas – The holiday season is shining bright at the Little Rock Zoo as families flock to experience the annual GloWild event, an immersive light display designed to spread cheer and create lasting memories for visitors of all ages. From dazzling pathways to cozy campfires, this year’s event promises to be bigger and more festive than ever.

Joy Matlock, the Director of Marketing for the Little Rock Zoo, shared that the zoo is expecting a strong turnout this year. “We typically get over a thousand families this year and were expecting even more to pack out the zoo. It’s something that people have made a tradition to attend, and of course, we want them to continue that with us,” Matlock said. The event has become a beloved holiday tradition in Little Rock, drawing families eager to enjoy both the holiday spirit and the zoo’s festive atmosphere.

This year’s GloWild event features dozens of illuminated pathways with interactive light displays and fun, themed installations. Each evening promises a slightly different experience, with nearly 30 sponsors helping bring the event to life. Families can stroll through the displays, taking in the vibrant colors and creative designs while enjoying the crisp winter air.

Adding to the cozy, festive atmosphere, the zoo is providing hot chocolate and setting up campfires throughout the night. “We will have hot chocolate, and also campfires throughout the night where families can eat s’mores and relax after they walk around and see the light,” Matlock explained. These warm spots allow visitors to take a break from exploring, recharge, and soak in the holiday ambiance in comfort.

For many children, the highlight of the evening is a visit from Santa Claus. Kids have the opportunity to take pictures with Santa, write letters, and even share their Christmas wish lists. “That’s always a lot of families’ favorite part, it’s always so beautiful to see children’s faces light up when Santa Claus arrives, and it really gives them a magical experience,” Matlock said. These moments capture the joy and wonder that the GloWild event aims to inspire in every visitor.

The event is set to continue through January 4, giving families plenty of opportunities to plan visits. Admission is reasonably priced, with members of the zoo paying $19 and non-members paying $22 plus tax. The zoo encourages families to come early, enjoy the festive decorations, and make a night of it with seasonal treats and entertainment.

GloWild has quickly become a cornerstone of Little Rock’s holiday offerings, combining the excitement of a winter festival with the charm of a community-centered zoo event. Beyond the lights and campfires, it’s a chance for families to connect, make memories, and celebrate the season together.

Matlock emphasized that the event is not just about the lights, but also about creating a sense of joy and togetherness. “It’s a tradition we love sharing with the community, and it’s wonderful to see families returning year after year to enjoy the magic of GloWild,” she said.

Whether families are coming for the lights, the treats, or the chance to see Santa, the Little Rock Zoo’s GloWild event is designed to provide a warm, festive experience for everyone. It’s a reminder that even in chilly winter evenings, the spirit of the holidays can shine brightly, bringing smiles and creating cherished memories for all who attend.
