North Little Rock neighborhoods prepare to celebrate National Night Out with cookouts block parties and community events in October

North Little Rock, Arkansas – Residents across North Little Rock are preparing to take part in this year’s National Night Out, an annual community-building event aimed at fostering police-community partnerships and promoting neighborhood camaraderie. Scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, the event brings together residents, local organizations, and law enforcement for a series of cookouts, block parties, ice cream socials, and other activities throughout the city’s neighborhoods.

City officials emphasized that National Night Out is more than just a chance to enjoy food and entertainment. It is designed to strengthen the relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve, while giving residents the opportunity to connect with neighbors and local organizations. “National Night Out is about bringing neighborhoods together in a spirit of safety, fun, and unity,” said a city spokesperson.

Across North Little Rock, each ward will host multiple events organized by neighborhood associations and community groups. In Ward 1, residents of Military Heights are invited to gather at Military Heights Neighborhood Park between 23rd and 24th Streets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for food, games, and family-friendly activities. The Friends of Chandler Street will host a cookout with music at 15th and Chandler Streets from 6 to 10:30 p.m., while the Historic Park Hill Neighborhood Association will hold a general get-together at Idlewild Park from 6 to 7:30 p.m., featuring hot dogs, snacks, a bonfire, music, and giveaways, including National Night Out swag.

Ward 2 will see a variety of events, with the Baring Cross Neighborhood Association hosting a food and fellowship event at 1400 Crutcher Street from 3 to 6 p.m. Argenta Boosters & Melrose Community Outreach will run a family-friendly event at Melrose Park from 4 to 8:30 p.m., complete with CPR demonstrations, games for children, and DJ entertainment. Other Ward 2 gatherings include music and food at 914 “H” Street hosted by Dixie Addition CDC from 5 to 7 p.m., a community celebration at Rose City Ball Park featuring a bouncy house and waterslide, and a Stone Links Neighborhood Association event at Stone Links Club House with food, drinks, and children’s activities.

In Ward 3, the Scenic Hill Neighborhood Association will host a cookout and meet-and-greet at East Scenic and Valley View from 5 to 7 p.m. Neighbors United for Levy & Seis Puentes will hold a gathering at North Heights Recreation Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., offering community information, refreshments, water, and popcorn. Amboy Neighborhood Association will host an evening of hot dogs, games, mini-tournaments, giveaways, corn hole, and a bouncy slide at Amboy United Methodist Church from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Ward 4 will see events at Scott Haven Drive Neighborhood from 5 to 7 p.m. at 7115 Scott Haven Drive, where residents can enjoy pizza, cheese dip, tea, and soda. Cobblestone Crime Watch will also host a neighborhood gathering from 5 to 7 p.m. at 623 Cobblestone Circle, providing food and an opportunity to engage with fellow residents and local police officers.

City officials encouraged residents to participate in their local gatherings, emphasizing that National Night Out offers a unique chance to meet neighbors, strengthen community bonds, and learn more about local public safety efforts. Neighborhood organizations have worked tirelessly to plan engaging activities for all ages, ensuring that families, children, and senior citizens alike have an opportunity to enjoy the evening safely and comfortably.
