Highway 328 east of Maynard will be closed for the day on September 10 for a pipe culvert replacement project

Maynard, Arkansas – Drivers in the Maynard area should prepare for a temporary closure on Highway 328 next week as crews work to replace a critical pipe culvert. The closure is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. Work will take place between Evergreen Trail and Supply Road, affecting a key section of the highway east of Maynard.

During the closure, Highway 328 will be inaccessible between Highway 115 and Highway 67. Local traffic, however, will still be able to use the road on either side of the pipe culvert while crews complete the replacement. To guide drivers safely around the construction zone, a signed detour will direct traffic along Highways 67, 115, and 166. Motorists are urged to follow all detour signs and drive cautiously through nearby areas.

“Digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and signage will be in place to notify motorists of the closures,” officials said. The measures are designed to help prevent confusion and maintain safety for both drivers and construction personnel. Residents and travelers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider alternate routes when possible.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) reminded the public that construction schedules may change depending on weather conditions. In case of delays, the work could be rescheduled, and updates will be provided to ensure drivers are informed in advance.

For those seeking additional travel information or updates about the Highway 328 closure, ARDOT provides resources through IDriveArkansas.com and ARDOT.gov. These platforms offer real-time updates, maps, and detour information to help drivers navigate around construction zones safely and efficiently.

The pipe culvert replacement is part of ongoing efforts by ARDOT to maintain and improve highway infrastructure across the state. By replacing aging culverts, the department aims to enhance roadway safety, prevent flooding, and improve long-term durability for motorists who rely on Highway 328 daily.

Residents and commuters are advised to remain alert while traveling in the area and to follow all posted signage and instructions from construction personnel. The temporary inconvenience is expected to result in a safer and more reliable roadway for the community once the project is complete.
