Babe Ruth’s legacy celebrated with wreath ceremony at Majestic Park on Saturday morning

Little Rock, Arkansas – Baseball fans and local officials will gather at Majestic Park on Saturday morning to honor the enduring legacy of Babe Ruth with a wreath-laying ceremony, marking 77 years since the legendary player’s passing. The quiet tribute is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. at the base of the eight-foot bronze statue of Ruth, a figure that has stood as a symbol of baseball history at the park for decades.

“This is an especially appropriate moment for us to honor The Babe,” said Steve Arrison, CEO of Visit Hot Springs. “The 2025 Babe Ruth League World Series is underway right here at Majestic Park, and our statue is one of only three in the world. It stands proudly at the entrance to our baseball complex.”

Majestic Park, which played a significant role in Ruth’s early career, will host the ceremony with young athletes from World Series teams participating in the event. Tournament director Tom Wright and Majestic Park General Manager Derek Phillips will also be present to commemorate the occasion.

“What a great opportunity for these kids from around the globe to honor the namesake of their league,” Phillips said. “We’re keeping it simple—no long speeches, just a meaningful moment to remember one of the greatest players in history.”

The statue of Ruth at Majestic Park is not only a tribute to the player’s remarkable achievements but also a reminder of his connection to the park during the early 1900s when he played and practiced in the area. The bronze figure has become a cherished landmark for both locals and visitors, symbolizing the impact Ruth had on the sport of baseball.

As the World Series continues at the venue, young players from various regions will have the rare chance to pay respect to the man whose name inspired the league they compete in. The ceremony aims to instill a sense of history and tradition, connecting the current generation of athletes with one of the game’s most iconic figures.

With only a few words spoken and the simple act of laying a wreath, the ceremony promises to create a lasting impression on all who attend, reinforcing the timeless legacy of Babe Ruth and the role Majestic Park continues to play in preserving baseball history.
