Bryant Police gather to welcome the son of a fallen officer on his first day of kindergarten

Bryant, Arkansas – The halls of Hill Farm Elementary School were filled with warmth and encouragement Friday as JP Peck, the young son of fallen Bryant Police Officer Tanner Peck, began his first day of kindergarten. The start of school, a milestone for any child, carried a deeper significance this year, as members of the Bryant Police Department came together to show their support for the family of a beloved officer who passed away last December.

Officer Tanner Peck, remembered by colleagues and community members for his dedication and close relationships with those around him, shared a special bond with his son, officials said. Bryant Police Department took to social media to highlight the moment, reflecting both pride and a sense of family. “Officer Peck and his son shared a very close bond, and it was truly an honor to be there with JP as he begins this new journey,” the post read. “Good luck JP, we’re all rooting for you and hope you have the best school year ahead.”

The gesture was more than ceremonial. For the officers who had worked alongside Tanner Peck, it was a way to extend their support and let JP know that the police family remained close even after his father’s passing. Hill Farm Elementary staff also joined in welcoming the young student, creating an atmosphere of encouragement and care for the first-grader stepping into a new chapter of life.

As JP Peck walked through the school doors, he was met with smiling faces, high-fives, and words of encouragement from officers who once served alongside his father. For many in the Bryant community, the event was a reminder of the enduring impact of Officer Peck’s service and the importance of supporting families in times of loss.

This moment underscored a broader commitment from the Bryant Police Department to honor their own and maintain the strong bonds that extend beyond the badge. In welcoming JP to kindergarten, officers demonstrated that even in the face of tragedy, community and connection remain central. The start of school for JP Peck, framed by love and encouragement, marked both a new beginning and a tribute to the enduring legacy of his father.
