Bridge replacement to cause full closure of Highway 33 south of DeValls Bluff from July 24 to August 23

Little Rock, Arkansas – Motorists traveling on Highway 33 south of DeValls Bluff should be prepared for significant changes as the bridge across Honey Creek is scheduled to close for an extended period. Starting at 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, and lasting through Saturday, August 23, the highway will be closed around the clock to allow for the replacement of the bridge with a new box culvert.

During the closure, the highway will remain accessible only to local traffic on either side of the construction zone. Through traffic will need to follow a signed detour route to bypass the area.

For northbound travelers, the detour will direct them west on Highway 86 to Highway 63, then north on Highway 63 to Highway 70, and finally east to rejoin Highway 33. Southbound drivers will follow a similar route, taking Highway 70 west to Highway 63, then south to Highway 86, before heading east to re-enter Highway 33.

To ensure safety and guide drivers, digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and additional signage will be in place to notify and direct motorists. Travelers are advised to pay attention to these signs and be aware of the construction zone as they approach the closure.

For those needing further information or real-time updates on road conditions, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) recommends checking their website, IDriveArkansas.com, or visiting ARDOT.gov.

While the closure may cause some delays, it is necessary for the bridge replacement project aimed at improving infrastructure and ensuring safer travel in the region. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and seek alternative routes as the work progresses.
