FBI announces $25,000 reward for tips leading to the arrest of fugitive Benjamin Hanil Song

Little Rock, Arkansas – The FBI has launched an urgent search for Benjamin Hanil Song, a suspect wanted in connection with a violent attack on a federal detention facility in Texas. The agency is now offering a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to his arrest and conviction.

The incident took place on July 4 at the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, a facility that houses individuals in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody. According to officials, the attack left a federal officer wounded by gunfire during the incident.

Federal authorities responded swiftly to the assault, and a federal arrest warrant for Song was issued on July 9 by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas in Fort Worth. He faces serious charges including attempted murder of a federal officer and discharging a firearm during, in relation to, and in furtherance of a crime of violence.

The FBI describes Song as “armed and dangerous” and strongly warns the public not to approach him under any circumstances. Law enforcement agencies across the country have been alerted, and the bureau is seeking the public’s help in tracking him down.

“The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who has any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of Benjamin Hanil Song,” the agency stated in a release.

Investigators are hoping that members of the public may have seen or heard something that could help locate the suspect. People with tips are urged to contact the FBI immediately by calling the agency’s tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI. Tips can also be submitted through a local FBI office, the nearest American embassy or consulate, or online via the FBI’s official website.

Authorities are stressing the importance of caution and confidentiality for anyone who may have information. Due to the nature of the charges, Song is believed to be a significant threat.

This case remains an active investigation, and federal agencies are working together to bring the suspect to justice. The FBI has not released further details on the possible motive or other individuals who may be involved.

As the search continues, the bureau is counting on the public’s assistance to help close in on a suspect they consider highly dangerous and capable of further violence.
