Overnight closure of exit ramp on i-30 in Saline County will affect eastbound traffic for several hours on July 14 and July 15

Saline County, Arkansas – Motorists traveling on Interstate 30 (I-30) in Saline County should be aware of a temporary closure that will impact eastbound traffic on Monday, July 14, through Tuesday morning, July 15. As part of ongoing improvements under the Connecting Arkansas Program, crews will close the I-30 east Exit 116 ramp, which serves Sevier Street and South Street, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. to perform essential ramp work.

This closure is part of a larger effort to enhance the I-30 corridor. The temporary shutdown of the Sevier Street/South Street exit will last for two hours, during which time drivers will be required to find alternate routes. Signage will be posted in advance to help guide drivers to other ramps, and motorists are urged to plan accordingly to avoid delays.

During the closure, traffic will be controlled with construction barrels and clear signage. The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) encourages all travelers to proceed with caution as they navigate through the work zone, particularly at night when construction activity is taking place. Travelers should expect slower traffic speeds and remain alert for any adjustments in road conditions.

“While these closures are necessary for the progress of this important project, we want to remind drivers to stay cautious as they move through the construction area,” said ARDOT officials. “Safety is our priority, both for the crews working on the ramp and for the drivers passing through the area.”

The I-30 east Exit 116 ramp closure is just one piece of a broader $187.3 million project aimed at improving I-30’s capacity and overall infrastructure. This major project involves widening a 5.5-mile stretch of the interstate, from the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116). The work also includes upgrades at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114).

As this ambitious project progresses, the goal is to create a more efficient transportation corridor by adding an additional lane in each direction, which will help alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety for all drivers. The widening is expected to greatly benefit commuters, freight traffic, and residents of Saline County as it helps ease congestion and enhances travel times.

The work is expected to be completed in phases, with periodic closures and detours throughout the duration of the project. ARDOT continues to work closely with the public to ensure that the impact on daily traffic is minimized as much as possible.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation reminds drivers to be mindful of potential noise disruptions in nearby areas during nighttime construction hours. Drivers are also urged to stay informed of the latest travel advisories as construction progresses.
