Maumelle is preparing for a grand 40th-anniversary celebration on June 20, marking four decades since its incorporation

Maumelle, Arkansas – Maumelle is gearing up for a special occasion as it celebrates its 40th anniversary of incorporation on June 20. The central Arkansas city, which officially became a part of the state’s municipal landscape in 1985, is marking four decades of growth and development with a series of events that reflect on its history and the people who have shaped it.

On the actual anniversary day, June 20, the celebration will kick off with a history program at 2 p.m. at City Hall. Held in the council chambers, this event will provide a deeper look into Maumelle’s origins, its journey to incorporation, and the milestones the city has achieved over the past four decades. City officials and historians will share insights and stories that capture the spirit of the community and how it evolved into the vibrant city it is today.

In addition to the program, there will be a history museum walk-through at City Hall. This will give attendees the chance to explore exhibits that highlight significant moments in Maumelle’s history. The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 20, offering an opportunity for visitors to take in the city’s rich past. The exhibit will also be available on Saturday, June 22, from 9 a.m. to noon, allowing those who cannot attend the weekday event to participate in the celebration.

The events aim to bring the community together to honor Maumelle’s past while also looking ahead to its future. The anniversary celebration is a reminder of how far the city has come since its incorporation, and it serves as a great opportunity for longtime residents and newcomers alike to connect and reflect on their shared history.
