Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirms that inmate Grant Hardin has been safely captured by law enforcement

Little Rock, Arkansas – After a wide-reaching search, violent criminal Grant Hardin has been taken back into custody, Arkansas officials confirmed Thursday. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders released a statement applauding the efforts of law enforcement agencies that made the capture possible.

“Thanks to the great work of local, state and federal law enforcement Arkansans can breathe a sigh of relief and I can confirm that violent criminal Grant Hardin is back in custody,” the governor said. “I am grateful for all law enforcement who contributed to his capture and give special thanks to the Trump administration and Secretary Kristi Noem, who sent a team from Border Patrol that was instrumental in tracking and apprehending Hardin.”

Hardin, who has a history of violent offenses, was the focus of an intense search operation involving multiple jurisdictions. His escape had triggered a wave of concern across communities in Arkansas, prompting swift action from agencies at all levels. While specific details about his escape and capture remain limited, officials confirmed the arrest followed coordinated efforts between local police, state authorities, and federal units, including U.S. Border Patrol.

The assistance from Secretary Noem and federal resources brought additional surveillance and tactical capabilities that helped narrow the search area and locate Hardin. Though he was considered dangerous, officials confirmed the apprehension was made without any harm to officers or civilians.

The governor’s statement reflects both a sense of relief and pride in the collaborative work done to restore safety. The operation, which combined manpower, intelligence, and rapid deployment, underscores the significance of interstate and federal partnerships in high-risk situations like these.

Arkansas officials have not yet released further information about Hardin’s current detention status or any additional charges he may face. However, with his return to custody, law enforcement leaders and state officials are expected to evaluate protocols and determine how the initial breach occurred.

For now, Arkansans are reassured that the manhunt is over, and a dangerous individual is no longer at large.
