Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders meets with officials and residents in Diaz to address the aftermath of the powerful EF-4 tornado that struck last week

Diaz, Arkansas – Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders visited Diaz on Thursday morning to provide an update on the city’s recovery efforts following the devastating EF-4 tornado that tore through the area last week.

The powerful tornado, which struck on Friday, was part of a severe weather outbreak that brought multiple tornadoes across the state. According to the National Weather Service, the tornado that hit Diaz had peak winds reaching 190 mph, leaving widespread destruction and a shaken community in its wake.

During her visit, Governor Sanders acknowledged the damage caused by the storm and reassured residents that the state is working to assist those affected. She also spoke about the multiple tornadoes that hit Arkansas and addressed wildfires that had recently broken out in several areas.

“The majority of the fires have been contained,” Sanders said, emphasizing that efforts to control and monitor fire-affected regions remain ongoing.

A Community Picking Up the Pieces

The tornado in Diaz left homes destroyed, businesses damaged, and residents displaced. Emergency crews, volunteers, and relief organizations have been working around the clock to clear debris, restore power, and provide aid to those in need.
