Arkansas – The Dallas-based Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation has given a $30,000 grant to the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF), in a major effort to assist educational development for low-income single parents in the Arkansas Delta. This program seeks to assist single parents in Columbia and nearby counties providing them tools so they can pursue their professional and educational objectives.

Renowned for its dedication to community development, the King Foundation fits ASPSF’s goal of enabling single parents toward self-sufficiency by means of postsecondary education. The money will be directed into ASPSF’s scholarship programs and support services, which include professional development seminars meant to help single parents finish their school, achieve graduation, and start new professions paying family-supporting salaries.

The King Foundation has already teamed with ASPSF; in 2022 it granted $25,000 highlighting its continuous dedication to the cause.

“We are incredibly grateful to the King Foundation for its continued support,” said Jenn Morehead, Executive Director of ASPSF. “This grant will significantly enhance our ability to provide financial assistance, mentoring, and additional resources to single parents in the Arkansas Delta. By investing in their education, we are investing in the future of their families and our communities. The King Foundation’s generosity will help us break the cycle of poverty and create opportunities for a brighter future.”

Recognizing the particular difficulties these students experience—financial constraints, time management issues, and the task of juggling educational obligations with family responsibilities—the ASPSF has a strong history of helping single parents through scholarships and thorough support services.

ASPSF will be able to increase its scope and provide even more significant help to individuals in need by means of the kind contribution from the King Foundation. Not only for the single parents but also for their relatives and the larger Arkansas Delta region, the foundation’s generosity is considered as a vital first step in breaking the cycle of poverty and building better futures. This cooperation is a ray of hope since it shows that even the most underprivileged people of society can obtain educational success with the proper help.
