Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Cummings dies tragically following a single-vehicle accident near Kingsland Arkansas

Cleveland County, Arkansas – Arkansas officials confirmed on Friday that Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Cummings tragically passed away on August 28, 2025, following a single-vehicle accident near Kingsland. The news of his untimely death has left the local community and state leaders mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant and respected community figure.

Judge Cummings was serving his first term as county judge at the time of his passing. In his short tenure, he earned a reputation as a committed leader, focused on improving the lives of residents in Cleveland County through thoughtful governance and community engagement. His work was marked by dedication, integrity, and a willingness to serve the public in both challenging and routine matters of county leadership.

Following the announcement, Arkansas Congressman Bruce Westerman released a statement honoring Cummings’ contributions both as a public official and as a veteran. “Judge Cummings was serving his first term as county judge, proving to be a dedicated leader and committed public servant who left an indelible mark on the Cleveland County community,” Westerman said.

Westerman extended his prayers and condolences to Cummings’ family, friends, and the Cleveland County community. “Our prayers are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Cleveland County has lost a steadfast leader whose legacy of service remains an example to all. May God bless and comfort his loved ones during this difficult time,” he said.

The Republican Party of Arkansas also released a statement expressing deep sorrow over Cummings’ passing and praising his work as an elected official. Joseph K. Wood, Chairman of the Republican Party of Arkansas, remarked, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of County Judge Jimmy Cummings. We are grateful for his many contributions over the years to the Republican Party and for his dedicated leadership as an elected official. He worked tirelessly to represent the conservative values that strengthen Arkansas and improve the lives of the people of Cleveland County.”
