Young baseball players in Pine Bluff receive expert hitting tips from major league coach Mike Mosely

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Young baseball players in Pine Bluff had a unique opportunity on Saturday morning to sharpen their skills under the guidance of a major league hitting expert, thanks to a collaborative effort between the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Foundation and local community partners. The event, held at a community facility, drew aspiring players eager to learn from Mike Mosely, a coach renowned for his expertise in teaching hitters at both the collegiate and professional levels.

“People pay him thousands of dollars to come and do one-on-one sessions and group sessions; in fact, they’re getting that free of charge, it’s our ability to give back to the community, one, but also engage youth where they are, and in a positive manner,” said Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods. The sheriff emphasized that youth engagement and community involvement remain central goals for the department, and the clinic offered a tangible way to connect with young athletes.

Mosely, who holds the Guinness World Record for throwing 7,000 hittable pitches in under nine hours, shared his skills and techniques with the participants in a hands-on, interactive format. As the founder of the Mister 7,000 Baseball Academy, Mosely has built a reputation for his intense work ethic and ability to help hitters refine both their mechanics and their mental approach to the game.

Throughout the clinic, Pine Bluff youth received practical instruction on batting stance, swing mechanics, timing, and pitch recognition. The session was designed to accommodate players at all levels, from beginners to those already competing on travel or school teams. Participants had the chance to ask questions directly and receive personalized feedback from a coach whose guidance is typically reserved for paying clients at the college and professional levels.

For many young athletes, this experience was both inspiring and motivational. By seeing a record-holding professional coach in action, players were able to witness firsthand the dedication, precision, and mental focus required to excel in baseball. The clinic also served as a reminder of the importance of mentorship and support from local organizations committed to youth development.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office plans to continue hosting events like this, recognizing the value of connecting with young residents in positive and meaningful ways. By providing access to elite-level coaching and resources, the department hopes to encourage both athletic growth and community involvement among the next generation of Pine Bluff residents.

Saturday’s hitting clinic not only offered practical skills for baseball players but also reinforced a broader message about the importance of opportunity, guidance, and community support in helping young people reach their potential both on and off the field.
