Razorback laments the death of his brother in an officer-involved shooting in Texas

Little Rock, Arkansas – According to Razorback football player Andrew Armstrong, his brother was shot and killed by a cop in Texas.

According to a press release issued by the DeSoto Police Department in Texas on Friday, officers shot 26-year-old Arthur Lee Armstrong Jr. once in the chest, causing his death.
The 1000 block of Hunter’s Creek Drive is where DeSoto police say they received a 911 call at around ten in the morning. The caller hung up, and when police called back, Arthur Armstrong identified himself and stated that “he had several weapons and wanted to harm police.”

Officers reported that Arthur Armstrong attacked them violently and was carrying a knife in each hand when they got at the scene.

One of the officers shot him once in the chest as he got closer to them. After that, Arthur Armstrong received life-saving procedures and was disarmed. DeSoto EMS took him to Central Methodist Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival.

The event is being investigated by the Grand Prairie Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau’s Major Crimes Unit. Until further inquiry is completed, the officer who fired the bullet at Arthur Armstrong has been placed on paid administrative leave.
