Pulaski County deputies have identified the woman found dead in Hill Lake earlier this week as 28-year-old Sara Murphy of Quitman

Pulaski County, Arkansas – Pulaski County officials have identified the woman whose body was discovered in Hill Lake earlier this week. The victim has been confirmed as 28-year-old Sara Murphy of Quitman.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), the body was found on August 26 after local fishermen reported a possible drowning to authorities. The Water Patrol Unit responded to the scene at approximately 5:30 p.m., recovering Murphy’s body from the lake. Officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing as they work to determine both the cause and manner of her death.

Sheriff’s investigators emphasized that while details are limited at this stage, the investigation is a priority, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. “We are still working to determine the cause and manner of death,” PCSO representatives said. Residents with relevant information are asked to contact the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office at 501-340-6963.

The discovery of Murphy’s body has left local residents shaken, as Hill Lake is typically a quiet area frequented by fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts. Authorities have increased patrols in the vicinity while continuing their investigation, hoping to gather any additional clues or witness accounts that may shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officials also reminded the public of the importance of safety near bodies of water, especially in popular recreational areas. While the case remains under investigation, the community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or information that could assist law enforcement.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that they are committed to a thorough and timely investigation and will provide updates as new information becomes available. Meanwhile, the PCSO asks that the public respect the privacy of Murphy’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
