Public involvement meeting scheduled by ARDOT to examine the planned bridge replacement over Calico Creek on highway 56 in Calico Rock

Little Rock, Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is set to host a public involvement meeting to discuss important changes that will impact Calico Rock residents and travelers. The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, April 24, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., will address the proposed bridge replacement over Calico Creek on Highway 56, as well as planned improvements at the intersection of Highway 5 and Highway 56. The meeting will take place at Calico Rock City Hall, located at 265 Second Street in Calico Rock, AR.

This public meeting aims to provide local residents with the opportunity to learn more about the proposed project and its potential impact on the area. Those attending will have the chance to ask questions, review detailed plans, and share their thoughts on the project. The proposed bridge replacement is expected to improve safety and traffic flow on Highway 56, which is a crucial route in the region. Additionally, the intersection improvements at Highway 5 and Highway 56 are designed to make travel easier and safer for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.

In preparation for the meeting, ARDOT has made materials available online for public review. These materials will provide detailed information about the bridge replacement and intersection improvements, giving residents and interested parties the chance to familiarize themselves with the proposal ahead of the meeting. Additionally, the public is encouraged to submit written comments online or in person during the meeting. The online comment form is available through the ARDOT website, and comments will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

A Spanish translation of the meeting materials and online comment form is available to ensure that non-English speaking residents can also participate fully in the process.

To make the process even more accessible, ARDOT has also provided a contact for those who do not have internet access or who have questions about the project. Matt Strawn, a representative from ARDOT, can be reached at (501) 569-2281 or via email at [email protected] for any inquiries or assistance regarding the project.

This public meeting is a vital opportunity for Calico Rock residents and other stakeholders to engage with the proposed project, share feedback, and stay informed about changes that could significantly impact the local community and its infrastructure. ARDOT encourages as much public participation as possible to ensure the project meets the needs and concerns of everyone involved.
